Some resorts offer their guests free beginner classes, but you will find plenty of professionals who can provide you with customized, private instruction for individuals or families.

Most instructors will begin a class by having you practice your moves on land. You will have a board and learn how to balance and position your body.

After you have conquered the basics you will be supervised as you put your new skills to the test in the ocean with the real waves.

Many group classes offer instruction for ages 8 to adult, but there are some surf classes that younger children can participate in as well.

This will definitely be one of your most memorable family beach vacations!
